Joining Radio Fox – Let the fun begin
Are you mad about music, then share your passion with the patients of the Leicester Royal Infirmary and The Glenfield Hospital. Become a Radio Fox volunteer and let the fun begin. Age is not an issue, our presenting team ranges from 18 to 70. If you’d like to join Radio Fox, it’s easy! Email your name and a contact number to volunteer@radiofox.co.uk and include a few details about why you would like to be a member.
Radio Fox is always looking for new volunteers. Whether you’ve a great passion for music or sport, love meeting new and interesting people, or just want to give something back to your local community, then Radio Fox would love to hear from you. Whether you are aged 18 to 70 you are invited to the Radio Fox party….
Your first step should be to contact Matt on volunteer@radiofox.co.uk. He will arrange for you to visit the studios at a new members evening and get a feel of how things are organized and meet some of the gang. Then you’ll get the chance to join a regular presenter to enjoy your first “on air” experience.
Before new members can join Radio Fox they have to go through the process of becoming a University Hospitals Leicester (UHL) volunteer. New presenters spend a probationary 6 months on one of our daily patients request shows – accompanying a regular presenter during their ward visits and co-presenting their show. This will involve a minimum of 3 hours per week commitment.
Once you’re happy with the basics, your next step is the short in-house presenter training course – where you’ll get to know the finer details of presenting, before you become a fully qualified presenter and if you wish to, move on to a show of your own! Volunteers can enjoy free hospital parking and paid travel expenses plus other benefits of being part of the Volunteer Services team.
Please note that for insurance reasons you must be 18 or over to join Radio Fox.
