New Spring programmes announced

Spring is finally here and Radio Fox is doing a bit of spring cleaning to its schedule, with some fresh new shows for you to enjoy.

Joe Shikeley will be hosting a double dose of Classic Number Ones each week, bringing you some of the finest chart toppers from the last 50 years every Monday and Wednesday from 11pm.

Also on Wednesdays, don’t miss the Matt & Dean show which can be heard from 10pm.  Featuring, music, comedy, silly challenges and much more – it’s a must listen programme!

Further changes to the schedule will be announced later this month.  In the meantime, if you missed our 25th birthday celebrations, head over to our Soundcloud page where you’ll find a selection of interviews from the big day.

Birthday celebrations are a big hit

Radio Fox achieved an average audience share of 50% for its birthday celebrations, according to audience data supplied by Hospedia.
The audience share peaked at 59% for our big birthday request show on 23rd April, when one of our listeners won a pair of tickets to see Leona Lewis in Nottingham.  In terms of numbers of listeners, the programme attracted our biggest recorded audience since January 2011 and had more listeners than the other five stations available on the wards combined.
There were big audiences too for our other non request programmes, with all our special birthday shows achieving an audience share of 40% or more.  Our countdown of the most requested songs of the last 25 years on Monday attracted the biggest recorded audience for a non request programme in 12 years with an audience share of 57%, while Bob’s Birthday Breakfast, which included an interview with University Hospitals Of Leicester Chairman Martin Hindle, achieving an audience share of 51%.
Station Director Steve Hack is delighted with the audience figures.  “Our 25th birthday was one of the most memorable days in our history and it is fantastic that so many people tuned in to enjoy the celebrations.  Thank you to everyone who tuned in, asked for a request or took part in our competitions.”
Joining the current Radio Fox team for the big day were founder member Paul Hawes and past presenters including Vin Prema, Paul Quilter, Jim & Dave and Kris Bramwell.  Another founder member, Graham Coley, was interviewed and you can hear his thoughts on Radio Fox by heading over to our Soundcloud page.

Les Eastham to co-host special Sixties Show

Les
Long serving presenter Les Eastham is to make a one off return to the Sixties Scene programme for our 25th birthday.
Les will be joining current hosts Richard Leatherland and Ruth Carroll for an extended special of the long running show on Thursday April 25th between 6 and 8pm.  As well as the usual features they’ll be a few competitions including the opportunity to win a limited edition Beach Boys single.

Gearing up for a Foxy birthday

Opening_day_at_Fox

Preparations have begun for our 25th birthday! The big day is on
Tuesday April 23rd but we are planning a whole week of special shows
to celebrate our silver anniversary.

To kick things off you can enjoy every request chart number one played
in order, in a marathon show that starts at 9pm on Sunday 21st April.
That’s followed by the countdown of the 30 most requested songs of the
last 25 years and a special edition of All About The Game, where the
team will be playing highlights from our sporting coverage including
key Leicester City commentary.

The birthday itself includes interviews with special guests Martin Hindle, the Chairman of the University Hospitals Of Leicester NHS Trust and June Snowden, the President of the Hospital Broadcasting Association. In the evening we’ll be hosting a very special request show featuring all the request show teams and an opportunity for listeners to win tickets to Leona Lewis’s upcoming gig in Nottingham.

On April 24th Steve Hack and a former Radio Fox presenter host
Patients Requests: The FInal Dedication, a look back at our nightly
request show with guests on the phone and lots of archive clips.
There are also plenty of former Fox starts making a one off return
including Jim & Dave and Kris Bramwell.

Station Director Steve Hack says: “We still have plenty more
surprises to announce for our birthday week but whatever we do, it’s
all about getting our listeners involved in our silver anniversary
celebrations.”

New Sound, New Show

Radio Fox is to launch its first sung jingles package in 25 years on
Tuesday April 23rd – our 25th birthday.

The new package was produced by our friends at Devaweb, who have
worked with the station since 2005, and will include brand new show
and presenter idents to complement the main jingles.

Also changing during birthday week will be the name of our request
shows. Patients Requests, the Brunchbox and Sunday Sounds are to be
renamed Your Radio Fox, with the re-branded show launching on Thursday
25th April with Michael Lord, Ben Rutter and the team.

Explaining the change, Station Director Steve Hack says: “We want the
name of the show to reflect the fact that not only do we play music
for the patients, but we also play requests for staff on the wards
and, since the introduction of our streaming service, staff in other
areas of the hospitals.”
